De Danann Live at The Bottom Line in NYC on 13 Aug 1981

I took these with a Pentax K1000 35mm SLR when De Danann was on the Star Spangled Molly tour. I think I used a wide angle but it might’ve been my 50mm lens. Very poor quality but no flash allowed and next to zero light available. For the benefit of the digital generation photographers, back then you needed to know or guess before you went out to shoot which speed of film to load in your camera depending on the anticipated light conditions. Now we simply select the ISO from a digital menu and it’s not just 100-400 anymore either. And then there was the whiskey factor, too. Phil Donnelly and I went that night and sat up front. The late Michael O’Donnell and Kevin Burke also performed that evening.
